Fallon information letter- 2023

1.Directions to main pit from Stockman’s Casino.

Head East on highway 50 15.2 miles to Salt Wells rd. (You will see a RV dump station at the turn off)

Head West on Dirt Road from dump station 3.5 miles.

Pits will be marked out. Please set your RV’s a min. of 25 feet from course.

2. Directions from main pit to Pit 1 39.202427, -118.453401

Head east on dirt road from main pit.  Turn right and head east on Highway 50 for 12 miles.

Turn right onto dirt road, marked with 3 pink arrows.  Follow dirt road marked with arrows 5.9 miles. 


 

3 Pit 2 is very difficult to get to without taking race course. Pro Pit will be at checkpoint 2 for Saturday’s race. 39.128969, -118423941

 

4. Directions from main pit to Pit 3. 39.281428-, -118.622250

Head east on dirt road from main pit 3.5 miles. Turn left heading west 3.5 miles. Turn left onto Macari ln.

Follow Macari lane for .7 miles. Turn left onto Pitt Rd.  Follow Pitt rd. south for 7.7 miles. Be sure to stay right at Y.

 

5. The racecourse will run clockwise.

6. Tech will take place Stockman’s casino. Registration will take place in the lobby at the Holiday Inn.

7. Awards will take place at the VORRA trailer Sunday morning at 11am.

9. Race starts at 5pm. Staging will start at 4:15. IF your number is called on the radio, you will start at the back of all qualifiers and the back of your class.

  • Vintage, Group T Lite          5 laps

  • Sportsman Buggy and Group T Sportsman          4 laps

  • Pro UTV                                      6-42-mile laps, 8-hour time limit

  • Class 9/11/Vintage               5 laps

 

11. Qualifying start order will be based on the overall finish from Hawthorne. If you choose to not qualify, you will start behind qualifiers in the normal starting order.  Qualifiers will start in order.  

12.  The poker run will start a little later than normal due to qualifying. 

13. Track notes: 

1. There is a 25-mph zone at mile marker 2.5. At this location there is a set of pipes on both sides of the course. These pipes are filled with extremely hot water. DO not take a risk in this location.

2. The course will run a short section of the lakebed. You will be DQ’d if caught running the entire lakebed.

3. Checkpoint 1 will be a 25-mph zone and require a full stop. 

4. Checkpoint 2 will be a 25 zone but will not require a stop.

5. After checkpoint 2 there are several rollers. 2 of them can end your day, and also cause major injuries. Pay attention to the several danger signs that will be posted. 

6. Checkpoint 3 is at the end of a very fast road.  There will be 25 mph and require a full stop.

7. After Checkpoint 3 there are several new wash outs and also a tight canyon. Take your time through that section.

8. Main pit will be a 25-mph zone. All RV’s must be 25 feet from the racecourse. You will be asked to move if you are to close to the course. 

9. All fuel containers must be in some type of containment system. IE kiddie pool or inside an enclosed trailer.

10. All pits must have a fueling containment mat. IE a tarp. 

11. All fuelers must be wearing a fire suit and helmet while filling with fuel. You must!!! Have a personal with a 5-pound fire extinguisher ready during fueling. 

12. Just before Pit 2 and just after 2 there are 5 new wash outs. They have been marked with dangers and down arrows as needed.

14. Registration takes place 100% online. This means, if you have not pre-registered, and plan on registering at the track you will still need to do it online. So, DO IT NOW and save some time at the track.

 

18. Finally, it’s going to be HOT!!! Please do your best to stay hydrated. We suggest taking advantage of our race sponsor. Get yourself hydrated with Sierra IV Hydration!

Friday

July 14th​

Track is closed for all pre-running. This is a closed course on BLM land for race weekend only. To pre-run you must take part in the poker run.

​

Qualifying is limited to pro classes only- Class UT, 1, 6100, 10, Group-T, 4400, Pro turbo UTV, & Pro N/A UTV, Pro stock Turbo, and N/A UTV. Qualifying results will result in an overall start position. If you choose not to qualify, you will start in the normal class starting order- following all those who start the qualifying loop. To comply with BLM regulations, there is a $100.00 entry to qualify.  Overall Fast time wins $300 for trucks/buggy and $300 for UTV’s.

Qualifying line up will be based on the Hawthorne overall finish results. The qualifying course is 3.5 miles long. Cars will start with 1-minute intervals.  If you choose not to Qualify, you will start behind ALL qualifiers, in the normal line up.

09:00                              Drivers meeting for Qualifying, followed by line up

09:30                              Qualifying begins. 

10:30-11:30                   Poker run sign ups

11:30                              Poker run drivers meeting.

Poker Run-pre run, $25 entry per vehicle, receives 1 hand (card). $100.00 for all non VORRA members. All drivers and riders must sign a liability waiver. Prizes will be given for best hands. 

​

Additional cards $25. Max two cards per person.

​

All participants will start in groups.

​

  • Group 1 – 12:00        Race cars and trucks

  • Group 2 – 12:15        UTV's

  • Group 3 – 12:30        Pre-runners - Handlebars

  • Group 4 – 12:45        Stock Vehicles 

​

There is a 35mph speed limit. There is no passing. There is no stopping. You may be held at a checkpoint to give a larger gap. Unless having a technical or mechanical issue you must not stop. This is about safety. Stay out of the dust. Learn the course!

1st card drawn at the during poker run registration, 2nd card drawn at Pit A, 3rd card drawn at Pit B, 4th card drawn at Pit 3. 5th and final card drawn at Stockman’s Casino Bar.
