Hawthorne 275 Information 

 

  1. Registration takes place 100% online. This means, if you haven’t pre-registered, and plan on registering at the track you’ll still need to do it online. So, DO IT NOW and save some time at the track.

  2. Main pit area is located at the end of Thorne rd. 38.602363, -118.590650.   From Highway 95 take a left  (North) on Thorne rd. Follow that about 5.5 miles. Just after the 4 railroad tracks, Take a left onto Schurz road. Do not pit in the first 300 feet from the intersection.  Pitting is ok on either side of the course. The pit area is rather soft in some areas, so be careful. 

  3. Please be sure to see the race schedule on the website. 

  4. Transponders are included with the entry fee, they will be installed during tech, and removed after you finish the race. It is your responsibility to return the transponders. You will be charged a $100.00 fee or lost, damaged or unreturned transponders. 

  5. Any MX or Quads looking to do the recon lap Friday afternoon starting at 4:00pm 

  6. Be sure to set your pit area at both remote pits at least 50 feet from the course. Pit A has a ton of room, pit B is rather cramped, so please be mindful of your space.

  7. Pro Pit will be located at Pit B

  8. The course is closed to pre running prior to the race. You must take part in the Course recon for bike and quads, or poker run for all others if you want to pre run.

  9. Pit A location 38.5534102, -118.3116941 It’ll take about 30 minutes to get from main pit to this location. From the main pit head out to US 95 south. From there, go south on 95 through Hawthorne. It is 20 miles to the left turn. Look for the race markers on the highway. From the highway it is 1.7 miles to the pit area.

  10. Pit B location 38.7186805, -118.4828126 It’ll take about 25 minutes to get from the main pit to this location. From the main pit head north on rawhide rd. it’s 10.3 miles through the pass. GO SLOW. You’ll take a left at the Y and go .7 miles to the pit.

  11. We have a pre-race party set for Thursday night at Barleys Sports bar. Come enjoy some good food, drink, stories and support the town.

  13. Course notes: 

    • Start Finish to Pit A= 17.5 race miles

    • Start Finish to Visual A= 27.5 est. race miles

    • Start Finish to Road crossing 2= 38 est. race miles

    • Start Finish to Pit B= 39 est. race miles

    • Start Finish to Visual B= 43 est. race miles

    • Total mileage is 55 miles

  14. There are several wash outs. Rule of thumb- Stay on LEFT side of course at all times. The biggest and deepest are marked with a down arrow, and some also have a danger sign attached.

  15. At race mile 4ish there is a HUGE wash out on the road. The racecourse has been routed around the wash out and is heavily marked. This area will be slow.

  16. 25-mph zones will take place at the following locations. the main pit area, Road crossing 1, Pit 1, Road crossing 2, and pit 2.  We will have radar guns at all of these areas. Don’t get a penalty for speeding. 

  17. From race mile 30 to 40 there are several rollers. Fast rollers at that. We have marked the ones that will sneak up on you with one single danger sign. 

  18. The youth classes will race on Friday afternoon and will run through the main pit area. Keep the main pit road clear.

  19. On Saturday morning, the racecourse will be hot with the MX/Quad race. Please be mindful of the race going on and stick to the access roads. 

  20. Please remember to respect your neighbor in the main pit area and be the main pit area is located on the Army Depot land. We are guests, please respect the land so we can return.

Thursday  May 25th

Friday May 26th

Track is closed for all pre-running. This is a closed course on BLM land for race weekend only. To pre-run you must take part in the poker run.

Qualifying is limited to pro classes only- Class UT, 1, 6100, 10, Group-T, 4400, Pro turbo UTV, & Pro N/A UTV, Pro stock Turbo, and N/A UTV. Qualifying results will result in an overall start position. If you choose not to qualify, you will start in the normal class starting order- following all those who complete the qualifying loop. To comply with BLM regulations, there is a $100.00 entry to qualify.  Overall Fast time wins $250 for trucks/buggy and $250 for pro turbo UTV’s and $250 for Pro N/A utvs.

Qualifying lineup will be based on the Yerington 1 overall finish results. The qualifying course is 3.5 miles long. Cars will start with 1-minute intervals.  If you choose not to Qualify, you will start behind ALL qualifiers, in the normal line up.

Important!!!!! For this race, as a test, we will start all vehicles as they qualify, this means, if you are a pro turbo and qualify first OA of all vehicles, you will start first on race day.

Poker Run/pre-run, $25 entry per vehicle, receives 1 hand (card). $100 for all non VORRA members. All drivers and riders must sign a liability waiver. Prizes will be given for the best of hands. 

Additional cards $25 Max 2 cards per person

All participants will start in groups.

  • Group 1 – 13:00       Race cars and trucks

  • Group 2 – 13:15       UTV's

  • Group 3 – 13:30       Pre-runners - Handlebars

  • Group 4 – 13:45       Stock Vehicles 

There is a 35mph speed limit. There is no passing. There is no stopping. You may be held at a checkpoint to give a larger gap between vehicles. Unless having a technical or mechanical issue you must not stop. This is about safety. Stay out of the dust. Learn the course!

1st card drawn at the during poker run registration, 2nd card drawn at Checkpoint one, 3rd card drawn at road crossing 1, 4th card drawn at checkpoint 2. 5th & final card drawn at the Barleys. 

15:00 – 19:00    Tech & Registration location- Barleys sports bar You may drive your race car from the pits to                                          Barleys. Stay on city streets, do not use the highway. Approx. 6.5 miles from main pits. 

19:30                  Mandatory drivers meeting- Barley’s Sports Bar, DRIVERS MUST ATTEND. Roll call will be taken.

Sunday May 28th

Track will be the same as last year, approximately 55 miles. The track will run counterclockwise. 10-hour time limit for all vehicles.

08:15         Staging All Vehicles…. Note… if you are not in staging when called you will start at the back of your class,                    behind all qualifiers and non-qualifiers.
